3. Reflection

For the presentation on march the 30th we had prepared a powerpoint that showed all our product range up to the date with individual images of every product and just a few products photographed together.

For this we received some feedback saying that they would love to see pictures of the placemats and and the table runners together and so for the next presentation we had a photo shoot of our product range ready to show alongside with catalogues that we’ll give to the people from Asda showing the whole photo shoot, so they can scroll through it and take them home.

We added more bursts of colour and more metallic surfaces to our products, introduced more recycled materials and environmentally friendly ideas, as suggested in the feedback.

Another idea we implemented and which has had a really good acceptance was creating a short video showing how to create your own wallpaper, inspired from Cecilia’s paintings.
We thought this was a good idea as it gives a nice and refreshing twist to the presentation, and the tutors the really encouraged this idea.

It’s a really short and fast video showing the simple process of tearing the big pieces of coloured paper and attaching them to the wall creating a free and unique design for each client.
Developing this new concept of wallpaper will allow Asda to introduce a product that their competitor already has but on a different level as it’s much more interactive and personalised.

Moving on to the exhibition on May, when we started to put our products in place, we selected the best ones in our opinion but we chose a big number of them, it needed to be more curated and instead of showing many objects from each of the members we had to show less, creating a nice, well thought, small collection.

In the end we realised this was the right way to do it thanks to the tutors that gently guided us, and we saw that it’s ok if some members of the group just have one piece of all their products showing as long as the collection looks good as a whole. Sometimes less means more.

Before
After

It was really nice for me to work alongside other groups to get everything ready for the exhibition and see all their collections.
All of them looked brilliant and very professional, what made me think that maybe ours didn’t reach the level that others had. But this opinion faded when we started to receive good feedback about our collection and when I saw groups of people looking at it and being really interested about it.

In my opinion our product range is quite different from the other groups. We have products like wallpaper and big paintings that others don’t have but also, most of our range aren’t finished items but rather ideas, prints, textures, patterns, etc, that could potentially be used in a variety of different products that Asda desires to apply them to.
